My 3rd grade teacher was unforgettable. I vividly recall jumping for joy while learning long division in her class. She saw so much potential in me and pushed me to learn beyond the classroom goals. Most importantly, she created a safe, trusting environment where I felt seen. I think about her often now that I've become a teacher myself. It's incredible how one person can have such a powerful impact on your life. As the founder and main tutor at Brainwave, I strive to have that same impact on my students.

My approach is patient, flexible, and personalized. I take the time to understand how each student learns, where they feel stuck, and what helps them feel successful. My teaching philosophy centers on understanding rather than memorization. I encourage students to ask questions, explore ideas, and discover patterns for themselves so they can become confident, independent learners. One-on-one tutoring provides the time and space to learn without the pressure of keeping up with an entire class, allowing lessons to move at the student's pace.

If we did everything right the first time, there would be nothing new to learn. Learning can often feel uncomfortable because of the fear of being wrong or not understanding. I help students work through that discomfort, encouraging them to separate mistakes from feelings of failure and recognize that this is simply part of the learning process. Above all, I strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment where students feel comfortable taking risks, growing both academically and personally, and leaving each session believing they can succeed.
